Adams Street Library Groundbreaking

Adams Street Library Groundbreaking

On July 10th, Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Dorchester’s community gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the renovated Adams Street Branch of the Boston Public Library. Ground is so glad to be part of this public effort to improve such an important community asset. In partnership with NADAAA Architects and BSC Group, we designed a site that fully integrates the building within the context, welcomes people and provides intimacy.

"Our public libraries represent our shared values. The investments we are making in our neighborhood libraries are a direct reflection of the love of libraries that I see and hear from our residents," said Mayor Walsh. "If you go to any branch library in the city after school, you will see children from all different backgrounds reading books, asking questions, doing projects, and exploring worlds of imagination and information. They're finding material to build their dreams with, and I'm proud that we're creating new spaces for them to do exactly that."

Building Tontine Crescent

Building Tontine Crescent

Tontine Crescent, a temporary plaza designed by Ground has been built along Franklin Street near Millennium Tower and its steps. This plaza of gracious crescent of curving buildings and impressive trees designed by Charles Bullfinch has been reclaimed from an extra wide roadway centrally located in Boston`s Downtown Crossing.

Millennium Partners—the folks behind spires such as Millennium Place and Millennium Tower in Downtown Crossing—are working with the Boston Transportation Department and the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District on this “tactical plaza”.

Should Tontine Crescent initial success continue as is anticipated, it will be replaced by the real thing- a permanent park in the future.

Join us at Central Park at ABX GREENBUILD - November 8th&9th

CENTRAL PARK is both an informal breakout area for ABX and GREENBUILD and a lightly programmed space to introduce people to the possibilities of landscape architecture. The “park” is a 14’x 80’ pavilion, designed as an abstracted landscape with 2 x 4 trees, tensile leaves, a lawn of soft artificial turf, moveable and immoveable furniture. It is a place to relax, to move, to play, to socialize, to learn and to enjoy.
